October 6, 2025Day 6 of the season

First day on the high parcel

Oct 1Nov 1Dec 1
Old olive trees on stony terraces in morning mist, harvest nets spread beneath a tree

We opened the season at the highest point. At 710 metres the morning is cool and the fruit tight; we worked with rakes rather than stripping by hand so the branches would not suffer.

Sixty trees gave 1,840 kilos. The yield came out low, but that is what we expected: in an early harvest there is more water and less oil. Two crates caught the afternoon sun, so we set them aside and milled them first.
